Our Company’s History

More than 40 years in the olive tree culture.

Finca La Pontezuela.

In June of 1974, the family from the Toledo town of Mora acquired the current estate, Finca La Pontezuela, located in Los Navalmorales, Toledo (Castilla-La Mancha). This area has been cultivating olives since ancient times.

The family was excited to start a new adventure on these lands and to fully understand how to best care for centenary olive trees as well as the land in order to obtain, a product that so defines our culture and rootshigh quality Extra Virgin Olive Oil.

The spectacular location of La Pontezuela is the aspect that first caught the family´s eye: the environment, its colours, the birds and the remarkable view of the Montes de Toledo. To top it all off the Cabañeros National Park and the Sierra de Gredos within close distance.

The possibilities to transform and improve the environment encouraged the Toledo family to get to work on recuperating the estate’s agriculture and landscape. Now it seems like we are in the middle of the Tuscan countryside, surrounded by centuries-old olive trees that help produce our magnificent 5 Elementos EVOO. Sunsets here can hypnotize any visitor.

We pay tribute to the land, family tradition, cultural history, and land conservation.

Finca La Pontezuela is the accumulation of years of family history, connecting current efforts to the original owners of the land. The family takes pride in this project, giving light and continuity to the work that their predecessors began more than forty-five years ago. The tribute to the founders is filled with the desire to continue the family’s heartfelt tradition and expands on the memory of those who took the initial steps. The project has continued to improve and grow over time.

The successors’ desire to continue years of work taking care of the groves is without a doubt the best way to carry on the family from Mora’s commitment. Great enthusiasm and effort has been made to expand the 5 Elementos Extra Virgin Olive Oil project across international borders. This is the spirit that remains and defines our entire Finca La Pontezuela team.

The work to create the highest quality EVOO starts at the soil but does not end there. Finca la Pontezuela is proud to also dedicate time to education, understanding it is necessary to transmit the benefits of consuming this liquid gold for our health and raise awareness of its vast nutritional value.

A journey through history. A brand that connects with our past, present and future.

La Pontezuela is a meaningful name, indicating “small bridge“. It takes us back to the roots of Toledo, as it was the natural throughway that travellers who came from Extremadura had to cross. This route was also known as the “path of the silversmiths” since it was the same route that silversmiths used to reach the City of the Three Cultures.

In memory of those years that came before us, there is now a street in Toledo called “Camino de Las Pontezuelas”.

The meaning behind our premium brand, 5 Elementos EVOO, represents the four elements of Mother Nature (water, earth, fire and air) along with a fifth element, wood which symbolises our olive trees. This is the basis for our Extra Virgin Olive Oil: the 5 Elements of nature, those inherited from Western thought.

Cultural heritage and traditions.

The cultivation of the olive tree goes far beyond caring for the land and everything it represents. For us it is a symbol of Spain’s cultural heritage around this tree. It began with its introduction by the Phoenicians and how different cultures have shared it through out time. It reflects our way of being a little Phoenician, Arab, Jewish and Christian. Our culture has been evolving and changing its way of living around this tree, the olive.

Everything that encompasses the consumption of olive oil, the possibility of using it in our everyday lives, is nothing more than a reflection of the continuity of our traditions and healthy way of life.

We appreciate and distinguish a good EVOO by recognising it’s the many advantages it contributes to our Mediterranean diet. By maintain its presence in our gastronomy shows that we are awareness of benefits it not only provides to our health, but also to the flavour it lends to our foods.
